2007 News Blog Archive

November 18, 2007 (posted by Rich)  The Forefathers have had a busy Fall between performing various shows and finishing the 5-song Holiday-themed EP entitled "Comfort & Joy."  The EP will be available in early December and includes the tracks "Little Drummer Boy," "Silent Night," "I Saw Three Ships," "Deck The Halls," & and an original track "Bells."  The band is excited to have the tracks "Mountain Rose" and "Awake" from the new CD Manataka being played this week (week of Nov. 12th) on the nationally syndicated radio show "Echoes" broadcast on NPR and hosted by John Diliberto!  See the playlist at www.echoes.org .

September 17, 2007 (posted by Rich)  Odds & Ends...The Forefathers have a busy Fall season planned.  We are booked for an art festival, vegetarian festival, and a music festival.  Check out the dates page for more info!  We are also planning a CD Release Party for early November at a venue TBA.  No need to wait, though, you can order "Manataka" on the Home Page!  The band's been working on some holiday season tunes.  So far, "Little Drummer Boy" & "Silent Night" are in the can.  We're working on an original holiday song as well.  A holiday EP with 4-5 songs will hopefully be available by the CD Release Party.  Thanks to everyone for coming out for the Bohemia Society fundraiser on Friday, Sept. 7th.  A great crowd and a lot of fun for a good cause!

July 27, 2007 (posted by Rich)  The new CD is here! We're very happy with Morphius Disc for the great job they did with the graphics and reproducing the sound on the CD. The CD is available for sale.  We're proud to announce that The Forefathers won the 2007 Best of Orlando award for "Best Acoustic Act" in the Orlando Weekly. A big thank you to all of you who supported us with your vote! Here are a couple of pictures from the Best of Orlando party:  We have a couple of shows coming up soon including the benefit "Taste of the Nation" on Saturday, August 18th, at the Orange County Convention Center.

June 5, 2007 (posted by Rich)  The CD is finally done! The music and the artwork are done. We are sending the materials off for replication this week. The new CD, entitled "Manataka," should be ready for our upcoming summer shows. We decided to take some extra time to get the songs recorded and mixed just right rather than rush it out. We are very pleased with the results and hope you will be, too!  In between recording, mixing, and mastering, we've played a few shows this year including a couple of weddings, a couple of festivals, and a fundraiser. In June, we will be playing another festival, a club, and we'll be making our first ever South Florida appearance on Saturday night, June 30th in Ft. Lauderdale!

January 5, 2007 (posted by Rich)  Happy New Year to everyone! The Forefathers took a month off during the holidays and we have returned refreshed and full of figgy pudding and egg nog. The band is looking forward to an exciting 2007.  We have 9 songs "in the can" for our upcoming 2nd CD. It will be called Manataka and we are anticipating a release date in late March or early April. It will have 12 songs, meaning we have 3 more to record. One of the new songs will be a drum & percussion-only based tune. Manataka, or the Place of Peace, is in the current location of Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. For hundreds of years, the setting was a spiritual destination for Native American peoples. Every few years, even warring tribes set aside their differences to go to Manataka to offer gifts in the spirit of peace. Unfortunately, settlers of the West displaced these peoples and only as recently as 2000 has the essence of Mantaka been rekindled in that mystical location. See more about Manataka at www.manataka.org .  The Forefathers are playing a couple of weddings later this winter that we are looking forward to. Thankfully, the couples did not request the Macarena or the Chicken Dance. Our drummer, Arturo, loves to dance to the Macarena and will do so upon request.
